Roughly 30 years ago, in the early 2000s, Master Wang returned to his family roots: gastronomy: I t is true that his
grandfather was a well-known chef back home, in Beijing, but Wang himself did not start on such a path when he
was young. Later, fate and business led him to become a restaurant owner here in Budapest.
He was familiar with the type of Chinese buffet that most people could know in Europe - but he wanted something
different. Moreover, to present real and especially high-quality Chinese cuisine. His intention found discerning ears
(or rather taste buds) and gained great popularity in a short time. Insomuch that he already opened 4 restaurants
in the early 2000s. Although the journey seems to be a clear success in a few sentences, there were also plenty of
downs. As the following story shows.
I t was in 209 when he decided to pool his resources, the knowledge and value he had accumulated in his
restaurants in order to implement a completely new concept that was unknown until then. Create an authentic,
traditional, all-round high-quality Sichuan-style restaurant. In order to implement the plan, he returned to China
for a while to gather ideas and draw inspiration. On his return, he sold his own house and started renovating a
venue that he thought would be suitable. Everything went according to the plan.
However; life rarely offers a straight path. Complications soon arose. Starting with the fact that he hired the wrong
professionals, the renovation time kept getting delayed. Until the resources ran out - yes, the money too. Master'
Wang did his best to raise the necessary funds, but there was always another problem, so the money was almost
never enough.
Having enough with the seemingly hopeless struggle, he decided to put everything on one page. Literally, actually:
He wanted to raise the money by playing Texas Hold'em poker, but he didn't even know how to play it at the time.
He immediately bought three books, which from he tried to learn as much as possible. 3 days later he was sitting at
the poker table. In the next sir weeks, he managed to win enough money to finish the restaurant. Moreover; he
became the absolute winner in one of the poker tounaments - he even pocketed 2 million bonuses.
Yes, this story is exactly about this restaurant. In which you are sitting now: The restaurant, which has received
many awards and recognitions over the past years. We could write a long list of Chinese and international movie
stars, famous Hollywood directors, Olmpians, champions and dignitaries who have visited this place.
In recent decades, Master Wang has made a significant contribution to the respectability of Chinese hospitality and
to the rise of the standard in Hungary: He helped to create cultural and culinary bridges by showing and explaining
to Hungarians what traditional Chinese cuisine means and why Sichuan gastronomy is world famous. He is very
pleased that since then many others have drawn inspiration from this restaurant and carried on its values. Master
Wang hopes and believes that he and his team could contribute something to change the previously formed image
o f Chinese cuisine.
